The MacroMiniMicroMaxx ODI Tri Series
I’m not sure if I got the name right but the damn thing starts tomorrow. India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand are playing.
Sangakkara doesn’t look like he even wants to hold it, leave going through the trouble of playing well and winning it.
A whole lot of people are injured, a whole lot of people are sick and tired of each other’s faces and hence have been rested and a whole lot are probably just faking injuries because they are so sick and tired of each other. None of these people are New Zealanders though. They’ve genuinely rested some big guns.
India face NZ in the opener tomorrow. Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder will be absent from the Kiwi squad while Ishant, Gambhir and Harbhajan will be missing from India’s squad.
I’ve not seen some of these Kiwis ever play, guys like Peter Ingram, Kane Williamson and Andy McKay but they’ll be pretty easy on your pocket so you can put your money on of them.
Abhimanyu Mithun and Pragyan Ojha are certainties for India. Ojha for his bowling and Mithun more for his batting and for the fact that there are no other choices. I’m hoping Ashwin and Saurabh Tiwary get a go instead of Jadeja and Yuvraj respectively, losing this series is a chance we shouldn’t be afraid to take.
Raina seems to be the man of the moment and he’s already shifted to the 50 over mindset, he began his knock in the second innings in T20 gears before finishing at an ODI pace in the third test at Colombo.
Cricinfo adds this important nugget
No cricket has been played at the Dambulla stadium since the Asia Cup which means there will be plenty of juice in the fresh, greenish track on Tuesday. To balance that is the fact that the boundary ropes have been pulled in at least 10 metres from where there were during the Asia Cup.
So the Kiwi attack of Tuffey, Mills, Southee/McKay and Styris could end up routing us or Saurabh Tiwary could just go apeshit all over them.
Here’s praying for the latter.
