An Ashes Final, An Ashes Result

England celebrate their World Twenty20 title after beating Australia by seven wickets, England v Australia, ICC World Twenty20 final, Barbados, May 16, 2010

Colly's flowers bloom

Test cricket’s hallmark rivalry was extended to the T20 format. Australia played like it was the Ashes. Hence they lost.

Congratulations to the England on winning their first ICC tournament.

England are now in the league of teams who have won one ICC tournament such as South Africa and New Zealand although they’ve got the edge because they’ve won a World Cup and not just a Champions Trophy like SA and NZ have.

There’s also no reason why they cannot join the league of teams like Sri Lanka and Pakistan who have won two ICC Tournaments each by winning the 50 over World Cup next year in India.

One of the commentators, I think it was David Lloyd who said that both the finalists made it to the end of the tournament because they played that brand of consistently competitive and attacking cricket. Word.

Congratulations to Colly’s flowers for blooming at the right time, well played and well deserved.
