Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai

March 25, 2010

Delhi have just pulled off an upset against the form team of the current season, Bangalore.

Chennai are in a very bad position and a loss tonight will leave them needing 6 wins out of 8 remaining games to retain a chance of making it to the semis. The good news for them is of Dhoni’s return to the squad. He will also keep wickets and Parthiv aka Chota Hayden will play as a batsman.

The team hasn’t been announced yet but I suppose Murali Vijay & George Bailey got the boot to make room for Dhoni and Perrera respectively. Mumbai remain unchanged, yes, that means Jayasuriya sits out. Tendulkar only has so much emotion to spare, all those international runs don’t come free.

Lots of interpersonal battles with Hayden coming up against his favourites Zaheer and Bhajji. Sachin vs Murali is the bigger, much more anticipated battle; Murali holding the purple cap adds to the excitement.

With the exception of Jacques Kallis, all my trumps had been failing spectacularly and even Jacques has begun to disappoint me. I’ve made Sachin my trump, being the exceptional cricketer that he is, let’s hope he bucks the trend.

Update: Mumbai Indians have won the toss and will bowl first.
