Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kings XI Punjab, Bangalore
It’s a situation both the teams have been in earlier. RCB began IPL 2008 with a massive defeat (also against KKR) and ended the year 7th in the tables. KXIP lost their opening match last year (also against DD) before eventually ending up 5th on the table having sleepwalked through their league matches.
Ravi Bopara has had a good run at the top for Punjab and has a 80 to his name against RCB. Yuvraj Singh has been in and out of action with injuries but one game is enough to get him warmed up. Sangakkara has been in awesome T20 form and given the uncertainty in RCB over who will play, Sangakkara is a stable bet to play.
Sreesanth has been successful with the ball whenever he’s zipped his mouth but his economy rate remains a problem. None of the other bowlers seem consistent enough with the exception of Piyush Chawla.
Bangalore have their Indian batsmen in good form at the moment. Manish Pandey was great in the domestic circuit while Kohli showed maturity, appetite and ability in his stints for India when he was replacing Yuvraj. Jacques Kallis is dependable as ever and RCB will look to him as the batting anchor.
