The Aussies finally turned up to play the fourth Ashes test in Headingley and won by an innings margin.
Lady Luck had teased them throughout this series. Australia did all but get to fourth base at Cardiff where Monty and Jimmy played the role of the annoying voices in her head with guest appearances from glove carriers and juice bearers.
Then the Lady chose Freddie’s pose over the kiss of the baggy green at Lord’s. But Australia did not lose hope, serenading the lady with songs of masterful technique, solid defence & ruthless determination at Edgbaston to sow seeds of doubt in her heart.
At Headingley they decided to chuck all that. They went caveman on the Lady, clubbed her on the head, put her on their shoulders and took her back to the hotel cave. In just three days.
Both teams are expected to make changes for the fifth test at The Oval. Australia may want to play Lee but who’ll make way? England, unfortunately are staring at a host of bowling and batting changes.
Also, while Mike Hussey is the weak link in Australia’s middle order, England’s weak link is their middle order.
It’s the first time in 43 years that the final Ashes test will be a decider.
Get team building!
